Michael is an experienced finance, accounting, and governance professional with over 34 years of cumulative experience in insurance and other industries. He began his career in the Big Four accounting industry as a CPA with an emphasis on providing auditing and consulting services to life, health, and property and casualty insurance companies. He went on to become part of a management team serving startup and mature companies with interim controllers and CFOs in various industries. Michael continued to stay engaged in the insurance industry with leadership positions in the local IASA chapter with local and national service for almost 20 years. He continued to have consulting experiences that led to filings and consultation of small to large property and casualty carriers including some smaller risk retention groups that he assisted in the areas of financial reporting including filing of quarterly and annual statements. Michael also worked in several companies as interim VP of Finance and CFO in various companies throughout his consulting experiences at a local consulting firm that was acquired by a national consulting firm that performed similar services. Michael has also been engaged in community service by serving on not-for-profit boards including stints on the audit and finance committees and serving as a Treasurer and Chair of a Board focusing on supporting families with children having intellectual and developmental disabilities. Michael earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Florida. He also has maintained an active CPA and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) license with his CPA in effect since 1993 and his CIA since 2013.
